How To Cool

HOW TO COOL INDUSTRIAL PERSONNEL?

Increasing productivity dictates keeping workers comfortably cool.  Proper location of the Bessamaire Evaporative Coolers is important.

COOLING GUIDELINES

Engineered to either cool and ventilate the entire plant, warm areas, or hot spots. The prefabricated duct packages are used to provide island, stream, or spot cooling.

Area Cooling used to cool the entire plant

Area Cooling

Is used to cool the entire plant or large areas where personnel are spread throughout. Bessamaire duct discharges the air at 10’ – 14’ above the floor. After cooling and ventilating the space, 80% – 90% of the air should be exhausted through doors and powered exhaust.

Steam Cooling used for clusters

Steam Cooling

Is used where personnel are located in clusters within an area. Streams of cool, clean, fresh air flow in a more concentrated direction.

Island Cooling for INDUSTRIAL PERSONNEL

Island Cooling

Emphasizes the location of employees within the plant. Islands of people cooled by a central unit that throws the cool air a radius of 125’.

Spot Cooling for set workstations

Spot Cooling

Is used where personnel work at set workstations close to high heat processes. Custom ductwork is required to deliver the cooled air to the workstations.

Sizing is a function of the in-plant ambient conditions and the plant location.  As shown in the sizing chart, more frequent air changes are needed in hotter and more humid locations.

Effective temperatures with “wind chill” effect in the 70’s can be maintained by following these sizing steps Determine the in-plant temperature rise over outdoor ambient. Identify target air change rates from the chart.

Determine the size of the cubic area to be cooled. The cubic area is calculated by multiplying the square foot of the floor by 10.

Divide the cubic footage of the area by the target air change number. The result is the CFM needed.
